View Full Version : NeroAacEnc and delay added during encoding

When encoding AC3 there's a small delay value (~10ms) added to the audio by default. This can be canceled with -pad 0 option in aften.
I wonder if the same happens in AAC encoding and especially with NeroAacEnc, which i use. :confused:

It's 5.333ms with Aften. About AAC: Why don't you ask in the NeroAacEnc thread?

Because i thought it's a feature of all encoders, like ac3 encoders.
For me it's 10,66ms in aften. Tebashuna51 also have said that's 5,33ms. Maybe another 5,33ms are added when decoding? I compare original wav and wav -->ac3-->wav and i always find it 10,66ms.

wav (Aften or eac3to) -> ac3 (libav/nicaudio/Azid/...-> wav
always a delay of 5.33 ms
wav (NeroAacEnc) -> m4a (NeroAacDec) -> wav Delay: 0ms
wav (NeroAacEnc) -> mp4 (Yamb) -> aac (eac3to-nero) ->wav Delay: 54.6ms
wav (NeroAacEnc) -> mp4 (Faad/BassAudio) -> wav Delay: 54.6ms

wav (Aften or eac3to) -> ac3 (libav/nicaudio/Azid/...-> wav
always a delay of 5.33 mswav (Aften or eac3to)-> ac3 (nero7/eac3to) -> wav ALWAYS 10,66ms
I'll try with libav as decoder
wav (NeroAacEnc) -> m4a (NeroAacDec) -> wav Delay: 0msThis means that NeroAacEnc doesn't add any delay...
wav (NeroAacEnc) -> mp4 (Yamb) -> aac (eac3to-nero) ->wav Delay: 54.6mswav (NeroAacEnc) -> mp4 (mkvmerge) -> mka (mkvextract) -> aac (eac3to-nero) ->wav Delay: 33,5ms
It seems to me that nero dshow decoders add some delay.
