Low frame rate on BD rip

I have ripped 2 BDs to my hard drive. I used AnyDVD HD + tsMuxeR for both of them. One is h264, one is VC-1.

The h264 one plays fine as a single huge file on my hard drive. The VC-1 one has a very low frame rate on the video (maybe 2 or 3 fps) from the hard drive, while it was fine watching it directly from the disk.

I know my system is powerful enough as I have a bit of an overclocked, water cooled mammoth and I can see that its not maxing out my HDD activity, RAM or CPU usage.

Is this normal? What could be the reason for it? Is there any way to avoid this?

What playback software are you using?

Try (re)installing WMP11 which comes with Microsoft's VC-1 decoder, maybe it'll help.

I was using PowerDVD because WMP11 couldn't open the .ts file that tsMuxeR produced (and VLC doesn't seem to do VC-1). First it complains that it doesn't recognise .ts then it just hangs on "Media Changing" when I try anyway.

PowerDVD could play it fine even through AnyDVD HD when it was actually on the disk so I assumed that the player was not struggling.

How can I convert it to something that WMP11 can play to try this?

WMP11 should be able to play VC1 coded videos just fine.... VC1 is Microsoft's Codec, you may need to use a container that WMP11 supports tho.

Failing that mplayer is a good choice, it can play anything!

I just thought I'd add to this that I could never get it working on WMP but that version 1.0.0 of VLC (currently still in development) plays it perfectly. If anyone wants to try this, you can get a nightly build from http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/win32/?C=M;O=D (I suggest getting a "trunk" build, which will probably be more stable)
