Hello.

I recently found out that some of the clips I have on my computer is encoded with FMP4 and so I need to install that codec to make it play in WMP. I am wondering if its possible to change this codec to DivX so that I do not need to install any other codec.

Cheers!

Search is your friend. (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=95313)

According to that thread, that's just FFmpeg's FourCC code. ffdshow will work fine. Or you could use a FourCC changer to make it DX50, AFAIK.

Nic's FourCC Changer can do it. It comes with Koepi's Xvid builds (http://koepi.info/) - you can find it in Start->Programs->Xvid. Just load the video file and it'll show both of the FourCC tags, which you can change. You can even type in a custom code (like for instance, DX50) if you don't find it in the dropdown menus.
