Hi, got a few problems with GK while I'm encoding from a DVD source to XVID.

-I made it 2 cds and I get 2 cds, but they're ~400mb + ~150mb, not exactly the size of 700mb each that I wanted.

-I have choosen NTSC, but in the next column it says PAL anamorphic, so I have to flip over to PAL in the first column and back to NTSC again, why?

-I have tried to do the EXACT same encoding as a already released movie, I have the same movie and the avg. bitrate should be also 1300, which is exactly the same as the already released movie.

-I read a guide on how to do this exactly and I can't really see the problem in why the quality gets so poor and the cds doesnt get filled out to max.

Also doesn't really get this with 2:35:1 aspect ratio, though my movie is in 16:9, how do I know what "2:35:1" will be set for THAT movie? Is there any programme I could check that out?

Calculator:

AviSize: 1433600 kbyte (1400 mbyte).
FilesSize: 0 kbyte.
TotalSize: 1433600 kbyte (1400 mbyte).
Interleaving: ac3
Bitrate: 1308 k(=1000)Bits/s
Frames: 166009
FPS: 23.976
Duration: 155:24
Quality: 0.282 bits/(pixel*frame).
CompCheck3: 0.000 bits/(pixel*frame).
CompCheck5: 0.391 bits/(pixel*frame).

Hope you could answer a few of my questions, posting some details from my encoding here that might could help you out some more.

Thanks

To answer to that : I think it's not a GK problem but a compression problem : to say it easily : it happens sometimes when the codec decide that the files must have 550 Mb instead of 700Mb : it doesn't need to be bigger : it doesn't decrease the vodeo quality

Gordian Knot will usually give you the correct output as long as you have the correct input AR selected. As far as the undersizing issues, it's likely from using a newer Xvid version that doesn't have VfW support. Uninstall Xvid and install the version that came with Gordian Knot, then under the Options tab make sure both the first and second pass "Profile @ level" settings are set to unrestricted, and your problem should be solved. Do make sure that you've selected the audio correctly under the Bitrate tab.
