View Full Version : Upmixing CDDA -> WMA Pro 10 5.1 -> Playback on Xbox 360?

Hi there, I notice there's a few guides round here regarding upmixing a stereo source int a 5.1AC3 track and I would like to take a shot at doing some of my hardcore\techno CDs, upmixing them to 5.1 then encoding them to WMA Pro 10 (hopefully I will get 6 mono wavs from whatever guide for easy encoding). I digress...I've looked at the guides and they all seem pretty outdated most written around 3-4 years ago. There is one frontend that looked interesting that automates the process which would be ideal but again its ancient and only outputs a DD5.1 track at 440k...Don't really want to decode that and then encode again as it would be a needless drop in quality and defeat the object.

I'm not expecting anything amazing, as in to improve the quality, obviously not possible. But would appreciate some pointer on a "quick fix" way to churn out a load of tracks in a quick generic way as I have a decent 5.1 setup and when I play my tunes on my Xbox 360 the rears and centre is completely un used due to the Xbox 360 encoding all its audio into a 640k stream my amp as with most refuses to process it with a Dolby Pro Logic II filter.

Anyway, would be great to get a rough and dirty guide or a pointer in the direction of a frontend\program that can do this all automated and produce reasonable results. Not after anything special just a little seperation in effects and what not would be ace (I like to get abit wrecked and have stuff coming from all around)

Thanks in advance for any help :)
