BD Blanker m2ts Edit?

I have been so wrapped up in testing jdobbs great new BD rebuilder toy I missed that PGC edit has gone full release. I will certainly be donating!

I was wondering whether the creators of the great DVD editor tools (PGCedit and VOB Blamker) are working on BD / HD DVD equivilant tools? I would be happy to Beta test :)

I work on PgcEdit only, and it's already sufficient! ;) I do not plan to write another tool for the BlueRays. I'm not sure that format will continue for ever, as most of the "normal" users are perfectly happy with the current DVDs, and I believe the hi-res format is mainly a commercial trick to force the users to buy new equipment and media. I don't want to encourage that! I might change my mind later, if I see that the BlueRays become popular enough.

Jsoto, the author of VobBlanker, has currently too much work, and doesn't work on the DVD related programs any more.

I agree with you that the con trick was to force hardware upgrades! BD Rebuilder has pretty much proven that a DVD-5 / 9 DVD disc can cope just fine with higher resolution up to 1080p - works great on my media center. Prices for blnak Blu Ray media are an absolute joke. Begs the question as to whether blue laser technology was actually needed :devil:

I do think however there will be demand for a blanking and editing tool, as BD Rebuilder becomes widely known about more users will be inclined to upgrade if they can be assured of a reliable backup solution.

These tools are supplied as freeware / donationware (I do note your intention to donate), done in the authors' spare time and your jibes towards the authors of these fine tools are just unwarranted.

You're just a smidgen short of a rule 4 strike...unless I have totally misinterpreted what you said.

I too have been testing bd rebuilder....for me, the only backups I think are like original are bd-rs, sure bd-9 is ok, but not in same league as bd-r backups, so no real need for this blanking stuff.....for now

Sorry yes you have. Of course I appreciate the efforts these guys have gone to and this is absolutely no jibe at all. "Shame" means "oh dear, will have to wait awhile for a tool to be developed" not "you guys are silly not to take this on". If it were not for the likes of them we would all be at the mercy of movie studio greed and obsessive behaviours. They are heroes of consumer freedom in my book! :)

Based on current pricing trends, a $1 bd-r is never going to happen. Besides, backing up onto a hard drive for a BD-25 is in the region of £2 / $3 per movie compared to £5 / $7.50 for a blank BD-R. DVD-9's are about £1 / $1.5 so I know which route i'm heading! To my eyes, DVD-9 AHCD's are indistiguishable from the originals. Even if I could notice a difference, i'm not fussy enough to pay this amout of money extra......

Even if you backup to BD-25 surely you want to remove annoying copyright warnings and other rubbish that clutters up the disc (even if you remove PUO's)

$1 bd-r may be low...but it will fall....for me I do movie only..nothing else backups (no need to worry about uops or anything else). And yes I can see difference from bd-r and dvd-9 backups.

People said same thing about dvd-r when they were expensive...will take time.

However, to be honest, this is too early to get into...blu ray may not be around for long LOL
