x264 for encoding Blu-Ray Streams

Sorry if this is posted somewhere else.

I read the thread "HELP - Creating a Blu-ray Disk ". Is it a fact that Blu-Ray discs need 4 slices? And, does that make the x264 not compatible? So many posts going back and forth. Has someone created a disc with x264 that's in production?
