Hey, whats a good way to make a xvis out of a *.mkv file? is there any way i can make a d2v file and load it into gknot?

mkv is a container not a video format.
and no, you cant use dgidex to index an mkv file...

Ok, so how do i get a *.mkv with H.264 content into a *.avi (xvid) container?

Demux the MKV. Then DGAVCDec + Avisynth + VirtualDub.

avisynth command
directshowsource("file.mkv")
works just fine for me (coreavc, and haali media splitter also installed)
I'd also agree with neuron2 that your better off with virtualdub (preferably virtualdubmod) but that's your choice of course
