Not really a bug as such, it's just that the drop-down created on the Identify window only expects one of the following values:

AC3,AAC,DTS,DTS-HD,TrueHD,PCM

It wasn't set up to deal with channel information as well (mainly because it doesn't fit in the GUI if it's more that about 5 chars). If it's something else, the unexpected value will just be added to the drop-down. I'll see if I can make a change so that unexpected values are added and then selected as well.

1.5.7 link added to first post. I've added the above mentioned fix for details.txt files which contain unexpected audio/video types. Someone also requested that the "Make Default" button not be greyed out when the current default is selected but that it prompts asking if you want to rename it back to it's original name - that's also in this version. I also took the opportunity to do some more fine-tuning to the Identify function.

anyone has problem with tsmuxer 1.9x? I tried avchdmanager on output of tsmuxer 1.91 last night. But avchdmanager popup an error saying something like "can not find clpi file" etc. I tried both avchd and blue-ray mode in tsmuxer but got the same error. I checked the clpi files are there.

trino, I'll look into the scrollbar issue, does it still behave that way in 1.5.5? My list has been longer that 1 page can handle for quite a while and the scrollbar has never been a problem. What version of Windows are you running?

The only reason I can think that it wouldn't find any clpi files is if your BDMV folder is one or more folders too far down the tree (your movie folder should be in the same place as the AVCHDManager.exe and the movie folder should contain the BDMV folder).

If you are sure this is correct, PM me your log file and I'll take a look (Start -> Run -> %TEMP% if you're not sure where your Temp folder is).

coolalibaba and Dean, I found the problem with failing to detect CLPI files - I had mistakenly assumed the presence of 00001.clpi or 00001.cpi in all BD/AVCHD outputs, this is obviously not correct. I have updated the code to check properly for any and all clpi/cpi files.

First post updated with new download link for 1.5.8.

I got the same problem in multiAVCHD and the new filenames from tsmuxer. It now starts from 00000. Also multiAVCHD always starts with 00000 - it's always been that way. May be I was getting the error only when my compilations had one title.

idbirch2
9th April 2009, 12:29
The old code checked only for 00001.clpi and 00001.cpi (yes, quite lazy but I haven't revisited that part of the code since the original AVCHDMe) so you would get the error whenever 00001.clpi or 00001.cpi didn't exist - as in your screenshot above.

I didn't feel my titles were anyone's business and I didn't I feel it was relevant to the issue, that's all.

AVCHDManager is so cool!

But can it be run on the PS3?

Now, where it is so easy to do it on the computer, from a user's point of view, a boost of user friendlyness would be to let a PS3_native_AVCHDManager application quickly select the AVCHD default out of the bunch of candidates on the 1TB USB disk directly at the PS3 and immediately play the selected show!

PS3 programmers! Here is an interesting task for you! ;)

This has been discussed before, even if USB devices were accessible with a BD-J app, they almost certainly wouldn't be writable.

It is hard for me do understand when I consider what phantastic games are programmable for the PS3 that it should be impossible to do a rename for two folder names?

Please, do not beat me, I am no programmer, only a moronic user, who never likes to give up hope!

Wasn't there somebody who said: "Yes, we can!" ?
Maybe in a different context?

Don't we agree, it would be a useful, desirable feature?

Where are the PS3 game programmers in doom9?
Does anybody know one who could be asked to have a look at it?
Engage experts from a PS3 forum?

I have updated the first post with a link to 1.6.0. This version can now detect audio/video and duration if they are missing when you press Identify. This is done using MediaInfo. I've added a settings button so that this can be enabled/disabled and made a few other small enhancements and bugfixes.

Thanks. I like the progress dialogue, pretty smooth. BTW, you have two links on the first post claiming to be the latest version, the first link at the top which is v1.6.0, and the one at the bottom (linked in the word "here") which is still 1.5.8.

Thanks again for AVCHDManager!

I'm not able to download the new file, getting this error:
Invalid File. This error has been forwarded to MediaFire's development team.

The key you provided for file download was invalid. This is usually caused because the file is no longer stored on Mediafire. This occurs when the file is removed by the originating user or Mediafire.

Solution to question #1
I have an external HDD that has a RJ45 network connection, I can mount it to my PC (through my home network) as if it were a local drive, and also have it connected to my PS3 at all times via USB.

I have it partitioned as well, a 50GB FAT32 and the rest NTFS. I can manage the files through my PC, transfer to the FAT32 partition and view on my PS3, without disconnecting.
...Currently, I do not have an external HDD that has a RJ45 network connection but would be ready to buy one.

This sounds like a great solution! :)
Would you please explain your solution in more detail? How to set up the file mangement and file transfer between HDD via RJ45? How do you let AVCHD Manger make a new default AVCHD by pressing "Make Default" at the PC while the HDD is connected to the PS3 and will the PS3 accept the new AVCHD for playing? How is the correct procedure?
Would your procedure work if the total 1TB or 1.5TB HDD was FAT32 filled with AVCHD candidates? Sort of an AVCHD Manager managed FAT32 AVCHD candidates HDD without NTFS?

But, I guess, to obtain HDD portability to a friend's PS3 without needing to plug it into his computer there still remains the need for a nice PS3 game FAT RENAMING SUPER HERO 3000. ;)
Who could propose such a challenge to the gaming programmer scene?

idbirch2
14th May 2009, 18:29
Unfortunately, it's already been discovered that using a HDD that is connect to both PC and PS3 causes the PS3 not to see the newly renamed AVCHD folder. The only method that works still involves connecting the HDD to the PC, disconnecting and connecting to the PS3.

It was very unreliable, sometimes the correct movie wouldn't play even though the proper steps were taken through AVCHD Manager... not saying it was AVCHD Manager's fault... I believe it was the drive confusing the PS3. I have since upgraded to a different HDD and replaced it with one without a RJ45 connection.

If you already have an external without a RJ45 connection, I wouldn't go out and get on just for this.

As a newbie to HD and this forum, my sincere thanks and applauds to all the developers of great tools available here!

With the help of this forum and some googling, I could:

1) Load Ubuntu in my ps3 without any linux knowledge
2) Rip my blue ray discs through ps3 (yet to buy a blue ray drive)
3) Play the ripped BD content on my ps3 from external Hard disk through 'multiAVCHD'. My latest ps3 is not recognising titles from 'AVCHDManager' though it shows the folders green and renames the current folder to 'AVCHD'. I have tried several times but no luck with 'AVCHDManager'. Can someone clarify where I could go wrong?
I would like to use the combination of tsMuxer + AVCHDManager than using 'multiAVCHD'.
4) I am very glad to insert my native language(Telugu Unicode fonts) subtitles in HD content with the help of Xportpgs, Suprip and tsMuxer.

I wish I too can contribute something to this community very soon!

About step 3) - you can't simply rename/AVCHDme blu-ray disc backup folder and expect it to work via USB/HDD in your PS3.

You need to use a tool like AVCHD patcher or goBD which will make your BD playable via usb (in 50% of the cases).

The other option (since you don't want to use multiAVCHD) is to pass the movie playlist (mpls) to tsMuxeR and let it create a structure for you.

>>since you don't want to use multiAVCHD
Hi deank
My apologies to you. I didn't mean anything against 'multiAVCHD'. Infact it helped me a lot and without it I wouldn't have been able to play HD on my ps3 from external hard disc. My heartful thanks to you for the wonderful tool!

I am not completely thorough with the operations of 'multiAVCHD'. I am not sure whether I can add SRT file for subtitles in multiAVCHD. I used tsmuxer to do that. Processing again on multiAVCHD was like duplicating the muxer operation since tsMuxer already does the BD structure. So I thought AVCHDmanager would be enough to change to 8.3 filename suitable for ps3 playback.

I was wondering why AVCHDmanager processed BD structure(created by tsMuxer directly) didn't work for me on ps3.

Just make sure to use "avchd" output in tsMuxeR and then process it with AVCHD Manager - it should work. :)

edit: Yes, multiAVCHD supports 4 different subtitle formats: SUP/PGS, SSA/ASS, SRT and DVD/VobSUB (idx+sub) subtitles.

How could I miss that option in tsMuxer!! All this while I have been selecting the Blue-ray disk option in tsMuxer and then processing with AVCHDmanager which never worked on my ps3:o

Not to hijack this thread but to seek clarification at the instance, If I am not mistaken 'multiAVCHD' is loading BYDEFAULT all sup/pgs, ssa/ass, srt files from the folder with the same name as the video file selected. I believe this shouldn't be the case and it should be optional to add the needed subtitle files.

Sorry, but my English don let me read all the thread. Please, tell me:
If i made a BluRay folder in Encore CS3 with menus, my PS3, of course, seems it like a DATA folder.
I do not need of FAT32 compliance, because i will write it on DVD using UDF 2.5
Can i leave file size 4gb, and only rename files to 8.3 format using AVCHDme?
Sorry for my bad English...

Hi Guys

Dont know if someone can help. I have a USB HDD with two partitions, one NTFS and one FAT32. On the FAT32 partition I have a few folders that are used for my Wii and then the AVDHCManager folders. I have the movie in the AVDHC folder but I dont know how to get the PS3 to recognise it.

I plug in the drive, go to videos and press x on the USB drive and it says no videos present. I can press triangle and navigate to the stream folder but then the film pauses at the 4GB limits.

Am I missing something simple here? Is there a way I can test the BMDV folder on a PC to see that this is ok?

Thanks in advance
Stephen

deank
13th January 2010, 18:49
The folder should be named AVCHD and it has to have BDMV folder inside. INDEX.BDM file needs to be AVCHD compliant - you can make it such with goBD (http://multiAVCHD.deanbg.com/goBD-tool.exe)or another patcher.

smreid
14th January 2010, 18:07
Yeah thanks Dean.

I had managed to get it working. I was using the bluray option instead of the AVCHD option in tsmuxer, which I guess meant that my index.bmd wasnt AVCHD compliant

Sorry the AVDHC was a typo in my post :stupid:

Thanks again

I am suddenly getting an error "Array variable has incorrect number of subscripts or subscript dimension range exceeded " when I run the "AVChdmanager" from the "root" of the drive. This was working before - could someone shed light on why this might be?

Non-avchd folders should be fine but like I said, post the contents of your log file and I might be able to fix the problem. At a quick glance, the only place I see where the code could bite you is if you have more than 200 directories on the root of your drive.

deank
6th June 2010, 21:41
I'll try to recreate the error, but I don't think I had 200 subfolders... Probably something like 'file+path' length, which overflows some restriction (or non-ANSI characters, or...).

@idbirch2: About AVCHD format... May I ask you to add support for IISVPL and AVCHDTN folders?

Oooo, that's going to be a fair bit of work I think, especially as I haven't looked at the code for about a year but I'll definitely have a go if I can get some time to get back into it. Do you have any sample structures of these new types as I've never heard of them before? Will they need MediaInfo checks for the Identify routine? Will I be able to test them on my PS3?

Wrote Avataar to $AVCDriveAVCHDlist[2][99][1]

OK, I find it a bit too conicidental that the array is sized at 99 just before it croaks, I think you are running a slightly outdated version where the array size was limited to 100 (it was increased to 200 in the last release). Please re-download from the first post in this thread and try it again.

You'll have to implement simple rename --- no need for mediainfo.

You can't test it with PS3 (nor do I). AVCHDTN folder can be tested only with camcoders and SDHC AVCHD players (like Panasonic BDP or Viera TV sets).

AVCHD is not just 8.3 filenames as we all know.
