Hi,
I have an AIW and for the money, it's not bad. I use it mainly for camcorder video editing (analog) using the Ulead Visual Studio that comes with it.
My PC is well above the min spec but I have had some audio sync problems. I attribute these problems to inexperience as I'm still getting used to what format etc to output my finished movie.
It's not bad for gaming too for the price - when compared to some of the other gaming cards on the market that don't have the same input/output possibilities.
Cheers
Richard.

If you are looking for a fairly in-depth review of the AIW Radeon 8500 DV (including comparison with the AIW Radeon) the following site is recommended: http://www6.tomshardware.com/graphic/01q4/011211/index.html

First of all for a great forum goto www.rage3d.com. Secondly, it really all depends on what you want out of your videocard. The multimedia functions are virtually identicle to it's older (and much cheaper) older brother. On the other hand if you are into games then you WANT this card. It is truly amazing. They have finally fixed many of the driver issues and, hopefully, will continue to eek some more performance out of it.

thank you all for replies. actually, i've read the tomshardware review, but i think it was made with an early release of the product (see the tv tuner problem). besides, it's always good to get feedback also from daily users and not just dedicated testers who may be under time or other kinds of pressure.

i've also some experience with the "old" aiw radeon. i was interested both in quality/speed improvements of the latest 8500dv, and the new features: remote control - is that working reliable and comfortable, dv input - how's the video edit software doing the job, and so on. there are people complaining about the quality of the tv tuner of the old aiw radeon. the new board has a digital tuner which should work much better, but tomshardware says it heats considerably higher than the analog tuner. as the heat is one of the most dangerous enemies of electronics, i wonder how good can the digital tuner tv be when it's so hot. and one more thing on the topic: the dvd player from ati, though based on a very good mpeg decoding engine, lacks some nice features other players like powerdvd have.
anyway, the rage3d site is really cool.
