Does Ripbot retain TrueHD?

Ok I want to retain TrueHD soundtrack, not downconvert it etc as I have all the goodies to do 1080P and TrueHD/DTSHD audio.

So does Ripbot retain TrueHD audio or simply convert to flac and then to AC3 DD?

If so what can I do to retain True HD audio and make a Ps3 compliant M2ts (with no file size limit as I can use tveristy to transfer)

Ps3 does not support TrueHD/DTSHD from single .m2ts file. If I recall correctly only ac3 is allowed.

Question: Do you have receiver which is able to DECODE TrueHD/DTSHD stream ???? I doubt! If answer is no then you get only ac3 and core dts.

Have a 46 inch 1080p saamsung and just watched The Dark Knight with its Imax scenes and TrueHD audio :)

Ps3 does not support TrueHD/DTSHD from single .m2ts file. If I recall correctly only ac3 is allowed.

unless you burn the m2ts to a AVCHD disk then the PS3 will Support TrueHD/DTSHD but its not worth it since those files are massively big (around 3 gig.) and the max you can get on a DVD 9 is 9 gig. And from what I hear coming from the PS3 AC3 640bit audio sounds better than its decoded TrueHD. The PS3 is not great with audio.

And yes the PS3 can decode DTSHD and TrueHD and send a the decoded output via LPCM to any receiver that supports HDMI input, so the receiver does not need DTSHD or TrueHD decoders (in fact with a PS3 any receivers that have these decoders do not work as the PS3 will not send out raw DTSHD or TrueHD bitstream to them through the HDMI cable).

Using Tversity you can actually transfer an entire file from your PC to Ps3. I have transferred an 18gb blu ray rip and got all audio soundtracks :)

So size isn't a concern, just a method of converting to a blu ray format that retains TrueHD. I understand Ps3 is not the best, but they can always keep uodating and tweaking firmware.

Atak as Jamos said, that is the bigget Joke of this generation of Amplifiers. A number if not all BluRay players can decode TrueHD/DTSHD natively, but not all can send the sound as LinerPCM. PS3 can therefore it can decode TrueHD and my amplifier is capable of acceptig Multi Channel LPCM. Ps3 cannot bitstream but it can do this.

No the PS3 currently will not play DTS, DTS-HD, or TrueHD using streaming. it only supports AC3.

You could create a BD structure with HD audio streams then use AVCHDMe (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=143631) to create a working AVCHD structure on a external drive and then connect it to your PS3 via usb2.

Jamos I am not actually streaming. Using tversity you can transfer a file larger than 4gb (fat32 compliant) from pc to your PS3 (it physically resides on ps3 hdd) Would HD audio concievably work then

When your PS3 has picked up the TVersity server, you can navigate to your file and then just select Copy.

Try it yourself. It works.

On the Playstation 3, in addition to streaming media, you can also download media to the PS3 hard drive by selecting some file, invoking the options menu and choosing the “copy” operation. This can even be done on entire folders. As the copy is taking place, TVersity will automatically convert the media that would otherwise not play on the PS3.

OK movie ripped and so far 5.5 gb transferred in 10 minutes.

Ps3 identifies the file being trasnferred as a mpeg 1080P file.

But you could add an option to retain original DTS-HD & DTS Master Audio, correct?

BTW, I have a Denon AVR-2808CI in my living room, and an Onkyo TX-SR606 in the bedroom.

Are these receivers difficult to get in Ireland?

They are fast approaching < $300 in the US.;)

There might be more of a want for this feature than you think.:D

I too have recently been looking into this issue. I rip my movies to .mp4 format. Stored on my PC and streamed to a McIntosh receiver through my Sony 4k TV. I've typically used the AC3 format and when I look at my files it shows them to be ripped with 6 channel audio (5.1 I'm assuming). However, when I play the movies over my system, my McIntosh says it's playing in Pro Logic mode instead of Digital. Any advice on what I'm doing wrong would be greatly appreciated.

Update: I'm not sure what changed, but suddenly my stuff is playing in digital. I guess it wasn't how I was ripping them at least.

Doesn't the PS3 always output digital?

IMO keeping the TrueHD is pointless. Just save yourself 5Mbps of bloat by encoding AAC and let the PS3 decode and output LPCM.

Because some people prefer listening to lossless audio and don't mind a bigger file? Same reason some people prefer storing their music in flac over mp3 or aac.
