CloneDVD with AnyDVD HD

I decided to purchase AnyDVD before the start of the New Year (and the new subscription plan). One question: are there any pros (of cons) to CloneDVD in conjunction with AnyDVD? I'm thinking that the only benefit of CloneDVD would be able to copy/burn on the fly. If this is the only benefit than I'll stick with using my copy of DVD Shrink or Nero recode once it is decrypted. Any thoughts? I don't know what time the new year starts in Antigua (or wherever they are located) so if I'm going to get the lifetime license I'll need to act quickly.:thanks:

Just get AnyDVD, IMO Clone DVD is not better than DVDShrink. You can also clone and burn on the fly with DVDShrink.

You might wind up with a non-working backup with DVD-Shrink, as well.

If you are going to use DVD Shrink or Nero Recode then first rip discs containing structural protections to your hard drive using Rip Video DVD to Harddisk.... Both DVD Shrink and Nero Recode have trouble with these types of discs and creating working backups.

Nero Recode contains a bug that Nero shows no interest in fixing and has existed dating back to the Recode that came with either Nero6 or Nero7. If a disc contains too many titles (greater ~40-50) then Nero Recode chokes upon importation of the disc and will become unresponsive. You won't be able to use the program for these discs at all.

CloneDVD works with AnyDVD on-the-fly 99.9999% of the time w/o issue and if there is one then normally gets resolved quickly. AnyDVD fixes are very quick and CloneDVD problems are less frequent and require Elaborate Bytes to release an update. If there is a problem with a program like DVD Shrink then all Slysoft can try to do is create a workaround since they can't fix DVD Shrink or any other program that they don't own. The AnyDVD ripper via Rip Video DVD to Harddisk... is a workaround that was added to AnyDVD specifically for DVD Shrink users.

CloneDVD allows you to remove titles, audio, subtitles, transcode, etc, and can create files in your HDD, an ISO image, or burn directly to a blank disc. No third party burning software is required.

Even if you burn with other software I recommend using CloneDVD for quick pre-processing and removing whatever you don't need. I use DVD Rebuilder with CCE for my DVD-9 to DVD-5 backups but I always rip with CloneDVD.

It's stored in the Windows registry. The only way to clear it is to either uninstall/reinstall the program or to manually remove the remembered names from the registry under the relevant software keys. Unless you know what you are doing then I suggest not messing with your registry.

Some good registry cleaners include CCleaner (free), Registry Mechanic and jv16powertools. The latter 2 have good "deep scanning" capabilities even into saved registry snapshots.

If I was not RUSHED into buying AnyDVD by SlySoft 12/31/08 Scheme ... I would not look back again.

Also, now that I see DrinkLye's comment on AnyDVD's lacking Normal ripping "Work-around for DVDShrink Users" ... I would definitely not buy the darn thing.

@ Duece2 ... all you need is the Freeware ... DVDFab Free version does it with Style and does not complain about anything else. Then use DVDShrink to fit into your DVD blank.

Actually my friend backs up his dvds before gives them to his daughter ... using AnyDVD & DVDShrink. The reason he uses AnyDVD becuase he did not know about DVDFab, DVDDecrypter and other Freewares at the time.

I can't believe the Sales Pitch that SlySoft is running ... by the time they get done Selling you Stuff ... you are out of Few Hundred Euros for something you can do for FREE!

Nothing can do what AnyDVD HD does for free/paid. You choose what you want to buy but there is no program out there which is like AnyDVD HD. It is totally unique.

if you re-read the entire post by "gonwk", it's seems quite apparent that he's only referring to ripping and copying standard DVDs... (And those certainly can be processed using only freeware)

Actually I bought it for the HD ripping capabilities and because this software has been getting decent press in this forum. I have been using the suggested freeware from these forums since 2005 and have had much success, also. I figured more than one weapon in the arsenal couldn't hurt, but I will hold off on the burning software and live with what I already have.
