Thought that it would be best to start a new thread on this subject: Not sure that this is the correct forum, but does involve decrypted dvd's or perhaps should be moved to hardware:

The Panasonic BD35/BD55 player stops playing BD-R(E)'s when they contain BD-J with the regioncode removed and Java signatures fixed by AnyDVD.
Panasonic seems to have this quirk about apeasing somebody other than the public. The Panasonic upconverting standalone that I bought last year for dvd's does not playback -R DL/+R DL (my fault for not verifing before purchase) but the older one bought two years ago does (but it does not upconvert).
Have the BD35 on the wish list but now with your provided info should perhaps rethink this purchase.
Any other players that have the same or similar problems that is going to limit playback?
Perhaps (might be easier) we can make a list of the ones that playback with no problems.

I've read the Sharp HP20 doesn't play BD5/9.
Beyond that I confirmed these working with a BD5 without menus awhile back:
Samsung 1500
Insignia NS-BRDVD
Sony BD300
Magnavox NB500MG9
Panasonic BD30
Sony BD350 (seen reports of working)
LG BH200 (seen reports of working prior to a certain firmware)
I don't know about BD-R playability. But I'm guessing more reports with menus ala BD-RB will start showing up soon.

Actually you don't have to rethink the purchase of the BD35, because this "problem" occurs only if you want to play backups of your BD's made with AnyDVD, when you let AnyDVD remove the regioncode and fix the Java signatures.
Thats the only point were the BD35 gets in trouble with a backup on a BD-R(E).
So, the only thing you have to consider is that if you're making backups of your BD's containing Java stuff, deactivate regioncode removing in the AnyDVD setup. Thats all. ;)
And maybe one day this problem will also get fixed. (I mean not from Panasonic, they will definitely not want to fix this "feature". :))

Good to hear, could you see if BD-RB results play ok on your BD35?
Also I read samsung 1500 after firmware 2.0 disabled BD on DVD, but still plays AVCHD. Hopefully just a bug and they fix it again.

Yes, will test that and post the results.

As posted previously on and in other threads I had bought a Helios H4000 by Neodigits for the upconversion thru the component output. It died on me a couple of days ago and I have since found out that Neodigits apparantly closed shop sometime last March. In talking to a distributor they had also used quite a few of the H4000's and they are also failing one after the other.
What a shame as they had a product that had a need and would playback pretty much everything.
Failure seems to be in the Power Supply board, so am going to try to have it fixed but in the mean time am going to try the OPPO to see how it fails.
Will keep you posted.

Found in decrpting forum, just thought that I would throew it in the mix.
Yes, its fine getting the files onto the hard drive, but if you dont burn the whole disc onto the blank disc then it wont work, if you choose a stream, and even if you leave everything in that stream untouched, i.e. leave all audio etc its still wont play on the Panasonic. I am not the only one, the internet is full of this problem with the Panasonic BD-35 and BD-55, OTHER PLAYERS WILL PLAY IT. But please note, this ONLY effects discs that are encoded using VC-1, H264 encoded discs work fine, you can copy the streams you want if the disc is H264 and the burned disc will work.

waiting for a reply to turbo jet, if you wouldn't mind.
