Hi my brother got yesterday an archos 5 http://www.archos.com/products/imt/archos_5/index.html?country=global&lang=en , and he doesnt know anything about video encoding ( I do know), but I dont know too much about the xvid settings, and right know he doesnt have the h264 plugin so He have to use xivd.

I have a psp and I use a custom modification of sharktooth's profile for it, and is pretty much the maximum settings for my psp, it is slow , but I dont care about it,

So since I dont know too much about the xvid settings can someone guide me into the settings of xvid and the maximum ones for archos 5? or I dont know the equivalent profile to HQ in x264?

Also I have windows xp x64, I searched here and saw that a guy told other guy that xvidvideo.ru have x64 builds of xvid should I use the stable one or the XviD-1.3.0 (CVS)-081213.02.23-VAQ-MTK x86/x64? and those two are multithread? I have a q6600

Not sure it this is what you are after, but I'll give it a try. I have an Archos 605 and have found that it will play any Xvid video with the following exceptions:

Does not support Quarter Pixel or Global Motion Compensation.

Will play AC3 sound
Will play Xvid with any bitrate

I normally just encode using Advanced Simple 5 with Mpeg matrix.

Set it to the Avi container.
