And where are you planning to use it? IIRC, the only platforms that can run the VCM and not at least WMP 9 are Win 95 NT4.

I assume he wants to use the VCM (VfW) version to encode in VirtualDub...

i'm using DVBportal's WMV muxer/encoder but its encoding speed is very slow compared with wmv9vcm in virtualdub;
so..if there is no difference(except bframes) between vcm and non-vcm i'll consider using vcm version
and one more question, Powertoy's registry settings affect vcm version too?

The VCM version is years older than than WMP 11, which introduced the registry key options PowerToy exposes.

Really, I wouldn't go the VCM route. That'll put you many generations behind in VC-1 performance and quality. And don't be dismissive of B-frames! They're a nice efficiency boost in themselves, and having them available allows for flash compensation (using BI frames).
