i tried searching it on the forums, but .ts or ts doesn't show any results, so i'm wondering can encode .ts files directly or do i convert it to something else?

yes you can encode them directly. TS is just a container format which holds video/audio/subs, it's a container format just like the many others. There's nothing special about it

TS is the "transport stream" container and it may contain MPEG-2, H.264/AVC or maybe other stream types. So you need to give more info!
What applications did you try? Did you try to get more info from MediaInfo/Avinaptic?
