Hi,
I tried searching the forum for this issue, but can't seem to find it so I'm sorry if this has been answered already. I am trying to make a backup of a movie and for some reason the main vts is a bit smaller than one of the other ones and rebuilder detects the other vts as the main feature. The problem with this is that if I choose options such as "Half-D1 and Half Space for Extras" it reduces bitrate and limits the space on the main movie instead of the other vts. Any ideas on how to get around this? Thanks

You can apply Half D1 on a per VTS basis in the AVS Expert Options. However, I am not sure how, in this situation, to steal space from the real extras without re-authoring the DVD.

Ok I will try to research how to do this, thank you very much. What kind of software would be required to re-author the dvd?

Have you tried DVD Shrink 3.2? It allows you to manually adjust the compression ratio for all segments. You can re-author the DVD as is or down to DVD-R size or select only certain segments. It's worth checking out if you haven't already.

I was thinking of something like DVDRMP or PgcEdit or VobBlanker. If you split the extras into titlesets that are smaller than the main movie, then DVDRB will be able to correctly identify the main movie. I agree that a feature enhancement would be to manually identify the main movie's VTS, but remember, you also have the segment editor, where you can manually crunch each segment to your liking.

Ok so I figured out that the dvd actually has two versions of the movie (theatrical and unrated) and this is why there are two vts' around the same size. I would like to apply the half d1 and half space for extras to each vts, however, I can't figure out how to do this on a per vts basis such as blutach has suggested. Are there any links to this information or does someone know how to do this?

You can use Robot1's RB-Opt to add the Half/Half filters to select VTS's. Run RB-Opt on the project after doing RB's prepare phrase. You can download RB-Opt 0.21 from jdobb's pages, but 0.21 is not the latest version (I have 0.38, & I may well be behind as well). Perhaps someone can point you to a fresher link.
