Sync/Timing issues with Resizing using MeGUI

Hi everyone.

Well I took the step registering a week ago to help get some of my problems addressed. I started encoding from this site but never registered as I haven't run into any problems until now.

Recently I ripped a movie from my HDTV. Being it was 1080p, and IMO the quality wasn't as nice for the file size, I decided to resize it. I resize many of my HDTV rips to smaller resolutions just to save space, and when watching on my 720p TV I hardly notice a difference.

Anyway, the HDTV rip, muxed into an .mkv file, has no problems playing. The audio is perfectly in sync with the video throughout the entire movie. After resizing the resolution, the audio and video are no longer in sync. It seems to me that the video plays back much too fast. And as the movie goes on, the audio and video are further apart in distance.

I uploaded a small 1 minute clip of the 1080p HDTV clip, and an example of the audio/video sync problems.

My resizing steps are as follows:
Create an avisynth script in MeGUI.
- resize to mod16, choose a smaller resolution
- preview then save script.
Change file type to .mkv, use my normal setting of DXVA-HQ.
Input original audio and choose my AAC settings.
Autoencode, choose file size, then queue up the encoding.

I've encoded numerous files with these same steps, taken from the same place and no problems before. Also I should add that when adding to the queue, meGUI wants to change the file's colorspace to YV12. I did that and still same problem.

Any help would be much appreciated, as this has been driving me nuts this last 2 weeks.

i cant check right now, but maybe you can check if the 1080p FPS are different than the 720p FPS.
also, posting the logfile and the avs script is not a bad idea...
however, YV12 is not a problem coz it's also required by x264

Thanks for the response. The FPS of the 1080p are listed as 29.97FPS and it confirms that in the avs script when you create it.

I attempted messing around with reencoding these smaller sized files, changing the FPS to 23.976 and 25, and although it helps, the audio/video still fall out of sync.

I'll load up meGUI and upload the avs script and the log file.

EDIT: Virtualdubmod lists both .mkvs at 29.97FPS.
