Extracted couple of chapters from a movie with smartripper as it follows:
1)Selected the chapters I wanted
2)under stream processing selected the movie(0xE0) and AC3 audio(0x80)
3)rest of list are unchecked.
4)Selected Demux to extra file.
After smartripper finishes ripping the chapters, I renamed each video and audio with same names for each chapters. So the audio and video will match.
Now the problem is spruceup authoring software has no problem accepting the video file *.m2v , but after loading the video file I get "Media Detection Error" and audio is not loaded. Only the video is loaded.
What I am doing wrong?

I use Smartripper and then use DVD2AVI to break out the AC3 (demux). Haven't had any problems with SpruceUp accepting it.

Spruceup does not import ac3 sound directly (see the helpfile) but will allow you to export or burn an movie file with ac3 already muxed into it. When you preview the movie however, you will not hear any sound. This is due to licencing issues around ac3 importation and playback. You will therefore need to find a tool which will mux your ac3 file with your m2v file externally. If you want to make sure this has worked before you burn, export the project to a title set which will create a video_ts (and an empty audio_ts) folder with all the vobs, bups and ifos inside. Test the exported files by playing them in PowerDVD or similar. If this works, you can then burn the project to disk, either by burning the project with Spruceup or using Nero etc to burn the video_ts and audio_ts folders to the disk.
Hope this helps,
Yorkie.

SpruceUp DOES import AC3 directly and it will multiplex the file for you. Just name the file to match the video element and put it in the same directory (example: tester.m2v and tester.ac3). When you import the M2V, the AC3 will follow automatically. I do it all the time -- and the documentation is very clear.
The playback limitation of AC3 is only true of the TRIAL version.

I have noticed that with demuxed (using smartripper 2.41) chapters extracted from music video dvd can be imported correctly, but If chapters were extracted from a movie then for some reason demuxed *.ac3 file can't be imported into spruceup software. On Music video dvd probably each song is sperated by a chapter so demuxing the chapter you don't loose any info in the file.. just a guess.
thanks
