Ripping HD-DVD's and maintaining TrueHD audio?

I have a bunch of HD-DVD's that have either DD+ or TrueHD on them. I would like to rip them to the server and retire my HD-DVD player (well at least mothball it for emergencies). I looked around and it wasn't clear what the answer was so please bear with me if this particular query has been asked and answered.

Is it possible to rip the HD-DVD's and recompress a bit but maintain the TrueHD audio. I would save either in MKV or ts format (H.264/TrueHD) to be played by a Popcorn Hour.

Does eac3to come into it?

eac3to can turn the MLP part of a TrueHD stream losslessly into FLAC, which can be muxed in MKV with either the original MPEG2/AVC/VC-1 stream or a recoded one.

That sounds good. I plan to view on a Popcorn Hour and I see the PCH supports FLAC which I am assuming would be output on the PCH as PCM via HDMI
