Hi Guys

Please don't tell me I haven't done my homework because I just spend 3 hours straight searching this forum and the FAQ's from head to ... and didn't find the answer.

I mux several AC3 audio streams with Xvid encoded video contend in an AVI container using VirtualDubMod. I tried all sorts of tags you can think of in the stream - comment section, but Haali and the software I use to run my HTPC always answer undetermined !!!

I know someone out there knows the answer - so please, help me.

:thanks:

How did you generate the AC3 and XviD streams?

Does it play properly on the PC? What does mediainfo or gspot say about the .avi ?

Did you try avimux-gui ?

Tags?
Like ID3 in mp3, or equivalents?
Ac3 don't supports tag.

The AC3 are straight from DVD. Demuxed using DVDFab HD. The Xvid is done with GordianKnot. It plays perfect everywhere. Only that the Audio Stream are not properly identified.

GSpot does not give any specific interesting information about the file. (It's describes pretty well what it is, that's all)

tebasuna51 - Check VirtualDubSub - Streams - Streamlist - Comment.

Maybe I can put the question a different way! If you would want to create an AVI with more than one AC3 stream - where would you identify which language the streams are?

s*** - y just rechecked and those VirtualDubSub comments are actually not saved at all. So the question remains - how come I see screenshots with Haali Media Splitter with A:English, A:Chinese, etc. Always mkv and ogm?? No way to get it done in AVI???

Then is AVI tags/comments not related with AC3.
I don't know if is possible, I never see languaje identifiers in avi audio tracks, always I need to play to know the languaje.
Ask in A/V forums.

If you're that interested, you can use AVIMUX and they have id's for each language you want. All you have to do is specific which ones. Then mux away.

How did things work out? I think it'll be simplier to use mkvtoolnix since ac3 is more supported in a mkv container. There's lot more you can do with a mkv container too. My prefered container would be mkv than any other container.

I definitely agree. I tried mkv once when it was still in its infancy. My problem is mainly that there aren't good hardware-players. I record a lot of stuff for my kids and they want to take the disks to their uncle, grandfather, etc. If you have a good recomendation for a player I would be interested though.

I tried AVIMux Gui but after I included Video and Audio Streams and press start button it only offers mka output. So still the same.

Right. So I got it to output AVI and if I name the audio-files before muxing to their respective languages than I get an output like this:
Video
V:[Undetermined]
Audio
A: German[Undetermined]
A: Espa#ol[Undetermined]
A: English[Undetermined]

So still no solution exept mux ogm or mkv.
