Problems with interlacing frames ripping a DVD
Im using DVDTOAVI to convert this DVD to avi using the lagarith codec. Im running into trouble with interlace frames, not sure if this is right, but when the camera moves or there is some kind of action the frames have tearing. So by standard i leave the settings under field operation to none. the frame rate is 29.97 or what ever this is where I get the tearing, if I try force film the tearing goes away but it defaults to 23.97 frames per sec, and this causes out of synce issues with the audio...

So i am at a loss how to export this video correctly, I tried deinterlacing the video when I exported my final product in adobe premiere but it didnt seem to work.

I was wondering if I could get some suggestions as to what I am doing wrong..

The dvd is "The breakfast club" NTSC. Widescreen 1.85:1

ok, well for some reason when I play back the avi file using lagarith codec and dub the audio the audio progressivley goes out of sync as you play the movie... im not sure what is going on, but I just installed the newest version of dvdtoavi and am going to try again... Im not sure how I can post the unprocessed file as it would be too big to download, since this issue is progressive and would only show over time as you played the video back.

Probably lagarith is too slow for playback and that is the cause of the desync. Why are you using that for your final render? It's intended for lossless intermediate files and archiving.

You don't have to post the full stream. A sample will be enough to determine the proper handling.

I dont think thats it, Im using lagarith because I want to edit the video, and I am doing that using Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5. When the audio and video is on the time line they both match up, but when you play itback it progressively gets out of sync when previewing the source material on the time line, so im pretty sure its an out of sync issue.

Do you want me to post the a portion of the vob file?

Isn't sample pretty much a synonym for portion? Upload a sample to a hosting site and post the link here.
