[Vista] Use PowerDVD Audio Decoder outside PowerDVD

I have been using XP for a long time, and in order to play back files with AC3 encoded audio, I installed PowerDVD and then played the video files with Media Player Classic which then would use the PowerDVD Audio Decoder in order to decode the AC3-track. Perfect audio on my headphones, no problems.

But now the same codec setup in Vista seems to be impossible. Media Player Classic (for instance) just doesn't use the PowerDVD Audio Codec, even if I set the merit of it at the highest level possible. Just won't happen. Ofcourse I could install AC3Filter, but I like the PowerDVD Audio Decoder more.

Why does Vista disallow PowerDVD codecs to be used outside PowerDVD?

Follow what has been said there and you can use Cyberlink Audio Decoder in MPC-HC in Vista.
