Archos Captured Video...to DVD

Hello all,

I have been capturing video with my Archos and DVR station and would like to know how to clean it up so I can create a DVD of the video.

I am hoping someone can recommend a script to clean the noise and possibly increase the sharpness a little.

Also, if you haven't installed AviSynth yet - do so! I suggest AvsP for writing scripts. It's fantastic. (push F5 for a preview of your script)

Give that a whirl, and tell me if you like the results :)

Remove the interleave line to see the final result, it's there to do a frame-by-frame comparison.

The luma levels looked off, and I figured denoising/deblocking/dithering/grain addition was in order.

I'd just buy the DVD if I was you.. that's a pretty bad looking cap.

Also, switch fft3dgpu to fft3dfilter if you don't have a reasonably fast video card in your system. fft3dgpu can be demanding, but if you do have a GPU it's _very_ fast

Thanks for the input! I ran it with fft3dfilter as my computer just crashes with the GPU version. It looks much better. I am not wanting to buy DVD's. My goal is to just record all the movies off TV and burn to disk to have something to watch for the summer at the cottage.

Is the video capture really that bad?

It's not the capture, it's the video offered by whatever service you're capping from.

Gotta love SD satellite reception! Compressed to max. It probably doesn't help that I have the feed running through coax and through a VCR. I will connect the satellite receiver directly to the DVR via S-Video.
