Join wmv files w/fade transition (no reencoding)

As the title says, I got a bunch of wmv (9) clips (no drm) that i want to join, but i would also like to add some fade in/out transistions without having to reencode everything.I know womble mpeg video wizard can join, and apply transitions to mpeg2 files without reencoding, but not wmv files.
Is there any program out that that supports this?I tried moviemaker but that doesnt seem to join without reencoding, unless im missing something.

I don't know of simple or automated tools (they may exist), but I'd cut out the ends where the transitions are to happen, encode them separately then join everything together.

With some real bit-level wizardry, you might be able to tweak the intensity compensation paramter in VC-1 to cause it to fade to/from black without reencoding. I've never seen that done, though.

I've never seen that done, though.Doesn't the intensity compensation only apply to inter blocks? I would think you'd still have the problem of intra blocks that would need to be re-encoded.

maybe remuxing to avi and then applying fades in VirualDub in "Smart_renderinG" mode could help you
this will only change those fade frames leaving others as is.
