which tool to extract individual tracks from DVD?

what tool can i use to extract an individual track from the DVD ??

ie. a director's track.

can i add it to a container without having to re encode the video? at a later date?

DVD Decrypter can demux when ripping, or you can rip the title you want then demux the audio with DGIndex or another tool. And yes you can mux it into a video later.

ripping isnt the problem, it s not protected.......what tools can i use to extract and the reinsert into mp4 and sync'ed?

As J_Darnley said, DVD Decrypter can demux. So can PGCDemux and VobEdit. Take your pick.

SmartRipper also allows you to enable stream processing, and select which streams you want to demux. Some info files can also be generated while ripping. I think it writes in one of the indo file the delay value. I'm sure it shows the A/V delay while ripping though. Just mux the audio stream to your file later with that same delay.

Use something like VobBlanker first though, which has a video Preview function and use it (it's the Prev/Cut button) to "see" what the cells have inside, so then you will know from which cells to rip the streams you need with SmartRipper/DVDDecrypter/PGCDemux/etc.

PS: if you want to use SmartRipper, don't install it (that is, run the executable you found on videohelp.com or such website). Just use some archiver like WinRAR or 7Zip to unpack that self extracting archive it comes in, and run the SmartRipper.exe file.
