Hi, ive been trying to tackle this problem for a while now -- i got a slew of WMV files that virtualdub cant seem to process, yet i can open them just fine in media player and watch them.. i just cant get virtual dub to open them so i can cut clips out of them -- also avi demux wont do it properly either :(
im trying to use VirtualDub 1.8.6, with fcchandler's wmv plugin
heres a screen shot of what it tells me and the file information window in vdub.
Does anyone know how to get around this? or make it work?

If have installed ffdshow...
Go to ffdshow VfW configuration fdshow (video encoder configuration) > Decoder > Codecs and set VC-1 = libavcodec or wmv9

i did the same and it worked, but it said the audio codec is missing... i then uninstalled ffdshow, made a restart and then installed k-lite mega codec pack.
now virtualdub is still saying "missing codec" ? although i've set the same settings...
im@win7 x64... k-lite codec pack wont work with this?

Thanks for this hint! The default setting is wmv9 there, witch does NOT work. Changing the setting in FFD show (video encoder configuration > Decoder > Codecs > VC-1) to libavcodec, then it start working like a charm. Thank you!
