Bluray disk to DVD?

Don't know if this is the right forum but is there a way to copy a bluray disc to my stand alone DVD burner?

tsMuxer can split a Blu Ray, it depends entirely on what you want to do with these DVD's tho? care to elaborate?

I have an "older" HDTV that isn't HDCP compliant. I also would like to convert Bluray to "DVD". Not truly DVD compliant, but 1080 video recompressed to fit onto a DVD4 or maybe a double layer, depending on the final file size. So I would just be using DVDs for storage.

These would be movie-only rips that I can play with my PC, out through the DVI connection and into my "old" HDTV. I would like to keep the surround sound, too. Is there a magic pill for me? heh heh

Maybe they have HDCP strippers that can be reprogrammed with new keys? That would be nice.... you just reprogram your stripper via USB.

JayBird, I demux my Blu Rays/HD DVD's with eac3to leaving me with a video stream and a audio stream (i normally convert the DTS/EAC3 audio track to AC3)
Then Recode the video stream using h264, trying to keep the file size down to about 6-7gb
Then depending what you are going to be using for playback choose your muxer, i use tsMuxer to mux the streams into a m2ts container as PS3's play this back natively!
If Playback will be PC or a Media tank you could use mkvmerge to mux to a MKV file.

Be warned encoding 1080P content is very processor intensive, depending on your CPU it will take atleast 8 hours (for a quad core CPU!)

It says it splits the Blu-ray up into multiple discs and blu-rays can be up to 50GB which is like 10-12 discs.... but do you know if you can put it to ONE single DVD while maintaining regular DVD quality? (It doesn't have to be blu-ray quality, just DVD-5/9 quality)

I just tried 'Blu-ray to DVD Pro' and all it does is split a blu-ray into multiple DVDs, as it says... but the DVDs are Blu-ray format :confused: :confused: . I was under the impression that I'd be able to convert blu-rays to a standard DVD format and size, only spanned across multiple DVDs depending on the quality you seek (more discs - less compression - higher quality video). So I tried setting it to one disc (only the 1st was selected of the six it displayed), it burned fine but it was only the first 20 mins of the movie at Blu-ray quality, in blu-ray format on a standard DVD that would not be recognized by a standard DVD player. What is the point of splitting 1 blu-ray disc into multiple blu-ray dvds if you already have a blu-ray player?? :cool:

Yes... using TSRemuxer to extract movie m2ts only, then using VSO ConvertXtoDVD to convert tha m2ts into DVD format (VOBs, IFOs, BUPs) ...DVD5 single layer or DVD9 dual layer...

I first opened the main movie m2ts file (22GBs) in TSRemuxer, then selected the main movie video stream, usually AVC #17.... then chose the DTS-HD Master audio stream #0. When I selected that HD audio stream... the option for 'True Hd to DTS-HD to DTS' became selectable...and selecting it will give you the 5.1 audio when you convert to DVD format.

As for converting that TSMuxed 17 GB m2ts file to DVD... I used VSO ConvertXtoDVD (free trial). It took the m2ts file directly and output DVD files in pretty fast time.
