can i decode properly some footage recorded in a sony pmw-ex1 with dgindex?
i have some trouble trying to demux the audio part... anyone knows how to deal with it?

WHat format does that camera use for video and audio?

format...mmm it is a mpeg2 stream with an mp4 extension, audio is uncompressed i think.
i believe the format is called xdcam ex

right now i am using YAMB and trying its demuxing capablities, but i also intend to frameserve through vfapi, as it is possible with .d2v files
no, i havent tried those, will check them out

Re-name the file extension to .mpeg and see whether DGIndex'll have at it. If not, rename the extension to .ts and see if DGAVCIndex can tackle it.

It sounds like everything should be OK. What problem are you having exactly? When you demux LPCM, you have to put it back in a wrapper using (e.g.) sox.exe, as described in the DGIndex users manual.

for the video part every file that i open in dgindex, it reports some kind of error ("picture error", "null slice","mb type", "motion code error" in infobox). besides video goes backwards/forwards sometimes, and has visual errors on frames.
for the audio part dgindex behaves as if the file hadn't any audio information whatsoever.
files are ok if i play them with other programs (i.e. sony's xdcam ex clipbrowser).

I demuxed the streams with Yamb. The video then opens with no problem in DGIndex. The audio stream is problematic. Using what appear to be correct SOX parameters, I convert to a WAV with only 4 seconds instead of the correct 16. I'll look into it a bit but perhaps you should post about it in the Audio forum.

DGIndex does not support MP4 input. Read the documents!

sorry for the OT, but i truely dont understand why MP4 format should be raped like that...
it was designed to be the standard MPEG4 container... and now it's becoming everyone's s**t...

Sorry, but AFAIK the MP4 specifications allowed the following video formats from the very beginning:
MPEG-4 (Part 2, Part 10 aka AVC/H.264), MPEG-2 und MPEG-1

You can't say it wasn't designed for MPEG-2 then. However LPCM isn't one of the "officially" supported audio formats. AC-3 now is!
