I wasn't sure if this question should be in the 'Avisynth Usage' or the 'MPEG-4 Encoder GUIs' subforum so I put it here.

I have an issue with a NTSC DVD I am trying to encode and I am hoping for some advice. Some starting info, DGIndex says Video Type = Film and Frame Type = Progressive. Using StaxRip, I have already tried several different field operations all with similar results, that being the red and blue colors, in some frames only, seem out of place to the items they are meant to be coloring. Normally I would use due diligence in researching possible fixes but this time I am finding that difficult mostly because I do not know what the problem is called so that I can look for solutions. Color displacement, misalignment, shifting, ghosting, ???

If that explanation isn't clear here is a link (http://www.badongo.com/file/12191030) to some screenshots of two frames showing the problem. The pics marked 'source' are from the DVD itself. The pics from frame 22914 are a typical example of what is happening, frame 70298 is the most extreme example I could find.

I was trying to find a consistent pattern in the color displacement but noting fits 100 percent of the time. At first I thought there was a pattern of blue shifting to the left red to the right, but that is not always true. Then I suspected it was shifting red in the direction of motion, and that seems to be true the majority of the time but not all of the time. That may be TMI, but I am not sure what info is relevant for troubleshooting and resolving this problem.

The hosting provider is pushing spyware. I did manage to start the download once but the resulting .rar file was truncated and it wouldn't let me download it again.

Tueplo create yourself a Google account and upload the images to Picasa Web Albums.

I just used that link and downloaded that file three times using FF and IE w/o any issue, but that is irrelevant. As suggested here is a Picasa album (http://picasaweb.google.com/Tueplo/DVDIssue?authkey=AW3Ak2vMgMs#) of the examples and TYIA for any assistance.

Not sure what is going on there.....

Try running it through something like ffmpeg or mencoder without any filters and see if the issue is still there.
