I have problem with a MP4 file that are equipped with the newage "codec X264"
primary my goal is to splitt the file, but i can offcorse only dream about getting any normal file-splitter out there to output it to a working avi

so if there isnt any way to splitt it as i suspect? i must convert it to avi and then splitt, however no converter that normaly can convert mp4 to normal formats are succesfull.. on this file only
the converting process allways generate an error on the way
with wery crappy explanations no mortal can understand, but the name "codec X264" and "bugy version" i could understand

do you have any solution-instruction that a mortal can understand (without namedropping what advanced feat this codec contains ;) :stupid:)
thank you

I have problem with a MP4 file that are equipped with the newage "codec X264"x264 is an encoder, not a codec. The video format is called H.264, and after almost 6 years, I wouldn't call it "new."primary my goal is to splitt the file, but i can offcorse only dream about getting any normal file-splitter out there to output it to a working aviH.264 doesn't go in AVI properly. Don't bother.so if there isnt any way to splitt it as i suspect? i must convert it to avi and then splitt, however no converter that normaly can convert mp4 to normal formats are succesfull.. on this file onlyAvidemux

Ok, that cleared out alot of missunderstandings, and sorry that i called your decoder a hippie-codec ;)

Avidemux

This is what i did now, in avidemux i choosed "MPEG video" as format instead of avi
then manually wrote extension filename."mpg"----->save

but it couldnt render the output, so some moore help here would be wery appretiated,
i think i hade done wrong as usual

avidemux should be able to output directly a new splitted mp4 file (no need to reencode to mpeg-2 and loosing quality)

there are also other tools that can be used :readfaq:
