How to visually see my layer break?

If I know the exact sector address of my layer break (DVD9), how do I translate that to finding it by playing the DVD so I can see if there's any kind of glitch where it occurs? I know what title (VTS_04_1.VOB) the layer break occurs in and the exact sector is 2,069,904 or 129,369 ECC blocks..

Open the DVD in PgcEdit. Double click on the main title (it will be in VTST 4). LB will be obvious because the seamless box will be unticked.

Thanks for the reply, I downloaded pgcedit and opened the DVD, but from there I am lost. I don't see any "LB" to double click on. Where should I be looking for that? (I've never used this program before)

ok, I think I got it. It still doesn't just say "LB" but since I know the cell that it's in (37 in this case), I scroll down and see that the end time is 44:41.26 so because the layer break is in that cell, I know that it must occur between 44:16.26 (end of previous cell) and the end of the cell that it's in. Is my logic correct? I don't know how to get the exact minutes and seconds that it occurs, but narrowing it down to a window of less than a minute is fine for me to just check and see what happens physically.

Ahh you're right, my mistake. It was cell 36, not 37 and yes, the seamless box is not checked. So now I know where it is, thanks!!!

To play the (remastered) DVD without the pause, check the seamless box. I hate the pause at the LB!

The LB is always located at the START of a cell, and cannot be in the middle of it. Theoretically, the Seamless Joint flag must be clear on that cell, but it is often set by the ripper, and even in the original DVD, it can be set (in Superbit DVDs for example.) Also, there are many reasons to clear the Seamless flag, so a clear flag doesn't mean that the LB is at that place. (For example, the first cell of a PGC must also have the seamless flag clear.)

Note that you can also find out in which cells the LB CAN be with PgcEdit. Just launch its burn function, and click OK. If the DVD doesn't fit on a single layer DVD, PgcEdit will display its LB Selection dialog, and you can see the list of cells that can be used to place the LB, and select the one you want. ImgBurn has a similar function.
BTW, with the next version of PgcEdit, you will be able to preview the LB with the sound. PgcEdit will simulate the pause during the layer change, so that you will be able to check which cell gives the best result.

Also, be sure to use a burning program that respects your decision. Most programs (notably Nero) place the LB at the position they decide, without your consent!
