Definitely not any worse that klite. It may or may not solve you problem but it will eliminate klite, which is a good thing.

What is your source material? (e.g. if it is h264, turn on h264 in ffdshow tryouts configuration, if it is mpg2, turn on mpg2 in ffdshow tryouts configuration...etc...)
You may need to install haali media splitter as well, depending on your source material

If it is mpeg2 he should be using DGindex. And frankly, using DGAVCindex for h264 isn't a bad idea either.

Certainly, but it sounds like he isn't ready for that quite yet.
@rubberduckies:
What is your source? We really need more information before anyone can help you more than they already have. Just make sure that you have the haali media splitter installed (you can get it here (http://haali.cs.msu.ru/mkv/)) and of course FFDShow Tryouts.
@all
For the record I have this problem with MeGUI myself. I can't load anything that needs to use directshowsource in the avisynth script creator at all. I can't remember ATM but I think it also crashes when when loading a working .avs with directshowsource to be encoded.

yes, ffdshow tryouts is installed and megui still crashes with the avisynth script creator tool.....the 'unable to render file' error was when ffdshow tryouts was not installed

ok...so my source for this particular encode is an avi file (if by source u mean, what kind of file are u trying to encode)

Essentially this is a moot point.
If you own the DVD then ask how to rip it. You will find help there but you will only find locked threads when trying to discuss downloaded material in any way at all.
This (http://mewiki.project357.com/wiki/Guides/Basic_Guide)link will help you get started in ripping your DVD. If you have questions about the guide please post them in one of the MeGUI threads.
Frankly I'm surprised that this thread hasn't been locked already. The mods must all be out getting lunch together or something.

Yes it is, any content obtained from sharing sites or others who offer illegal downloads of copyrighted material is not allowed to be discussed here. If you don't comply to the rules, you will get a strike. If you get three strikes, your account will be suspended for 30 days
Whether you own the DVD of the rip you downloaded or not, you still have committed a copyright violation by downloading it without appropriate permission. Owning the DVD of the said rip does not give you the right to download a rip made by someone else.
