Have used AutoGK on my XP for a while now. Have always encoded with DIVX. Recently reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled AutoGK along with the DIVX codec but every time I try to encode a video with DIVX , I get an error stating " Video Compression Error: The Source image format is not available. (error code - 2)"

Not sure whats going on . Tried re-installing both DIVX codec and Auto GK with no success. Even went to my roommates pc who's also running xp and installed autogk with divx codec and I get the same error.

Im assuming there is something wrong with the codec since when I use XVID its working fine. Anybody else having this problem. I prefer to use DIVX codec.

Hi!Video Compression Error: The Source image format is not availableEven went to my roommates pc who's also running xp and installed autogk with divx codec and I get the same error.Sounds like your rip of the DVD is "less than perfect".

1) What is the Title and Region number of your original DVD?

2) What software and procedures did you use to rip the DVD to your hard drive?

Used DVD Decrypter. Ripped several movies with it and all of them are showing up with this problem when I try to encode with divx codec. They turn out fine when XVID is selected. Don't get it. Films are NTSC.

What version of DivX do you have installed?

I believe it is 6.8.4

Remove current Divx version and install 5.2.1. Go to free-codecs.com

Why? Does DivX 6.8 has some issues when used with AutoGK?

Edit: looks like the answer is yes, according to mrmimis06's reply.

Hey budwzr. I uninstalled 6.8 and reinstalled with 5.2.1 and guess what, it now works. I guess Divx 6.8 isnt responding correctly with auto gk. Strange. There you go people. DIVX 6.8 may not work properly when using AutoGK

I guess your right . Do xvid videos play on dvd players that are compatible with DIVX? Also, do you know if the ps3 will play xvid natively. I know it does with divx. I guess I can check myself.
