Is MEGUI analyze function reliable?

I sometimes get conflicting answers when comparing MEGUI's analyze source to the info that DGIndex gives me. On a source I'm looking at now, MEGUI's analysis tells me that it is progressive where as DGIndex says it is interlaced. Most of the material I deal with is interlaced, and I'd be very surprised if this source truly is progressive as MEGUI is claiming. Are there known problems with the MEGUI analyze function? How reliable is MEGUI's analysis in general?

You can check with your eyes. It should be very easy to determine if material is progressive or interlaced.

not 100% reliable since it works analyzing frames.
if the source is really low motion it cant detect interlacing.

The point is that you shouldn't "go by DGIndex". DGIndex tells you only how the stream was encoded, which is not the same as telling you if the content is really interlaced or progressive (or field-blended, or phase-shifted, or hybrid, or ...). If you don't understabd how that distinction can be true, then you have more learning to do.
