hd 264 mkv files to xvid/divx avi files

after away to convert my high def mkv's into normal xvid avi files to play on a lower spec machine.

i use the mkv's on my one connected to the lcd, but theres another pc in the house that can't handle them, so want to convert them down to play on this machine

any simple programs that can do it for me without to much hassle

Have you tried CoreAVC or the DivX H.264 Decoder on your other pc? You can use Staxrip to convert them if necessary.

Why not just re-encode from your original source discs?
