I encoded divx avi into x264 mkv using nero encoder aac for the audio, the result only have around 15 minutes sound, and become mute till the end of the movie, is this a known incompability ?

Thanks

There is no reason, why this shouldn't work. But you must explain the exact steps that were used to create the problematic video...

@Ahmed28

Hi!

1) Does the DivX-compressed .AVI that you first created (presumably from a DVD) play properly?

2) Would you please load the DivX-compressed .AVI into GSpot and post a screen capture back here?

@Lord Mulder, I used Media Coder, with x264 custom profile encode for video, and nero HE-AAC V2, and with the container is MKV, actually is the sound isn't mute at all, with I max the volume, there is a very small noise, like people talking, but almost unheardable

@Setarip, 1. Yes, it plays properly, from the beginning 'till the end
2. What is GSpot ? how do I load and capture ?

@Ahmed28

Convert to AVC from your original DVD. You'll lose a lot of quality by using the intermediate Xvid you made.

You can find GSpot using google.

Did you try any other software than Media Coder yet? What about MeGUI for example?

@Neuron2, it's the avi, that I convert from the vob files, which I recovered from a damaged DVD disc months ago, the DVD is heavily damaged, using badcopypro, I was only able to save 4 vob files from total 5 vob files, then I converted them to divx avi, the DVD is almost unreadable now, but I still keep it though, so using the original vob isn't an option now......

@Lord Mulder, tried using Staxrip, the nero aac2 merged successfully with x264 in mkv container, the sound is there from the beginning 'till the end of the movie, it seems the problem is media coder itself, not the codec, thanks a lot =)

update: I tried to use media coder to use the same setting, but this time the container is mp4, the result is successfully, from the beginning untill the end, the sound is there, my friend told me that old version of menc has a problem putting nero aac2 with x264 in mkv container, is that true ?
I'll try Me GUI =)
