Hello all.

I am new to this and do not know the appropriate forum to post this thread in so sorry in advance if this question is in wrong forum.

I have just found out about the downloads of High Definition movies, these movies are in a mkv file format and can be very big in file size.
As these files are so big I cannot afford alot of movies stored on my hard drive so i need to backup the mkv file onto a blank DVD-R disc.
I have no dual-layer DVDs to hand so I want to no if it is possible to split the movie into chunks of say 4GB to fit onto a DVD-R 4.7GB disc.
I have been already recommended to use 'mkvmerge' which does split the movie into the specified size but for some reason when I playback the merged movie on the DVD-R it comes out with a constant judder (stops and starts all the time). This only happens when playing back the 2nd part of the movie and also 3rd.
I have done backups of movies that are able to fit on 4.7GB discs as they are and they turn out fine. Strangely enough I have also do another movie which I have merged over 2 discs ands this has turned out fine.

I have also tried 'RipBot264' and when playing the encoded file back through the PC you notice that the audio out of sync.

Can somebody tell me what I am doing wrong, mabye suggest some other software to use.

Thanks,
James

Well just don't download those (illegal) files, that should solve your storage space problems.

Here's a hint: :readrule:
