I know this is the encoding & authoring forum, but I asked this question in the general forum and got no response. And I can't figure out where else to ask this. But here is a copy of what I posted.
Doom's new guide on converting DivX to SVCD/VCD inspired me. And I've started to play with some of my DivX(s). I can easily detect where there is a scene change and jumb to appx middle (40-50min mark) and find a change scene and identify the frame # of the key frame. I use this information to create the 2 SVCD(s) thats required using the select range feature of TMPGENC. I still had some vobbs on my hd from an earlier backup and I strated to do that too... Again I used the AVI file I created earlier and found the frame that I want to split the movie up at. And from there I created the 2 MPG2 files.
Now my question, is there an easy way to find a key frame or scene change directly from a DVD or from the VOBs after SmartRipper is finished with its business?
If I can find a way to dectect the scene change easily, I reackon this method of creating a SVCD/VCD is actually quite simple. Simple enough that I can puts a guide if you'd like. ^_^
1) SmartRipper
2) BeSweet
3) TMPGENC
4) NERO
heh, I'll probably get into trouble when I start to get into interlaced videos and crap like that. And I don't remember if I needed to add DVD2AVI into that mix.
