VirtualdubMod alternative question

I use VdubMod and xvid to encode my toons from television, is there an alternative to Vdub I can use to edit out commercials and encode the video using x264? Thanks.

use virtualdub (the regular one) and use the http://home.comcast.net/~fcchandler/Plugins/MPEG2/index.html for opening mpeg2
