I have dvd shrink and anyconverter
If you mean, "AnyDVD" then you are good to go, otherwise try DVDFab (http://www.dvdfab.com/free.htm). As for editing well, I just read a thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1193836) on it.:)

then Shrinks Reauthor tool, load the main movie to the left screen and then use the editing part to cut out all the junk I don’t want
Did you read this? Load the disc in dvdshrink, select reauthor, add the title that you want to cut, right click on it and select "Set Start/End Frames...". It will appear as one or several vob files after it is backed up; those are simply mpeg-2 files and the .vob extension can be changed to .mpg.
