i heard if you rip a movie
lets say
2cd rip in gknot
and after youw ant to encode 1cd rip
you can keep the .stats file and when you do the 1cd youw ill only have to go through the second pass
but how does that work

you can keep the .stats file and when you do the 1cd you will only have to go through the second pass
That's correct, if the script remains the same you can use the original .stats file. However, if you made a decent 2-CD encode of the movie, with the same script the 1-CD version will be of much lower quality and you may want to start over again, this time using a lower resolution.
