Hi,
I currently recode tutorial videos (Adobe software tutorials) with lots of still images, almost no motion, random menu openings and cursor movements at restricted areas, some panning/zooming.
Original has quicktime format and is quite big. I manage to reduce the size of these tutorials by almost half.
So far I get nice quality just at 880x660@40kbps. At 60+kbps I get perfect quality. Video is 3 fps. Sound is 32kbps mp3@22050.
I leave all XviD settings as default. I have read several articles like "XviD Settings Explained", but I still have a very dim impression of what I can change to produce a better picture at the same/smaller size. Can you tell me what XviD settings improve the compressability or quality.
Especially I'm interested in such settings as quantization, cartoon mode, max/min I/P/B frame.
So far DivX produces better results if I compare same bitrate, that's why I post here to get to know how I can tweak the encoder. I can't believe that XviD can't do my encoding better than DivX.
And another little question: bitrates in XviD (Koepi) in 2-pass mode are always higher then I set. Can I force XviD to "target" desired bitrate without manually changing min quantizer for I/P/B frames?
