someone pointed me to the policy rules here about posting and closed my thread. i didn't see anything that pertained to my post. they must have thought i had copyrighted material since i said i didn't encode the video.
anyway, i had weird colorbanding and double images in my avi's. i found out that ffdshow was conflicting with something on my laptop and simply instructed k-lite to use xvid and divx to decode xvid and divx. problem solved through some trial and error. Thanks, Me!
