Hi to all,
I am using fairuse a long time without problems and was happy to see such a program as madrona. But when testing madrona I had a problem:
After the conversion of fairuse, nandub was not able to find the session-00.0 file, the fairuse output file. I think the problem is because fairuse did not finish automatically and had not written the avi output file.
I did everything as recommended and tried it many times.
I am using an Athlon 1400 with enough disk space, OS win98se German, divx installed Please help, thanks

Have you tried using FUBatch?

I tried fubatch, but it seems to be very complicated to me and i was not able to make the audio with it, the problem could be that i have a german OS, or maybe that I am too stupid to use it. Can somebody give me a complete and working ini file for encoding one movie ?
Thanks

The problems you are having with both Madrona and FUBatch are probably related the the German Language OS. FUBatch has some INI settings that allows it to still work with most Languages. I am having trouble attaching the INI file even as a TXT file. So I have posted the contents of one I create for you below. It will do one movie but you need to change a couple of lines for your encoding:
Under the [FairUse] Section:
Make sure the "Location" is the location of FairUse.exe
Also due to the Language differance some of the keyboard shortcuts in FairUse are different. I don't remember if the Next key is the only one, but in German it is something like Weiter. So in the INI file change "B-Next" to W.
Examples:
Location=c:\fairuse\fairuse.exe
B-Next=W
Under the [Nandub] Section:
Make sure the "Location" is the location of Nandub.exe
Example:
Location=c:\nandub\nandub.exe
Under the [Movie1] Section:
Make sure the "FileName" is the location of your FairUse Project file.
As far as the audio settings they are setup to change the rate from 48 to 44.1 and create an Average Bit Rate MP3 at 128kb. If you know what settings you would like to change go ahead and change them.
Example:
FileName=c:\encodings\AmericanPie.fup
Let me know if you have any problems.

BaronVlad,
For Madrona, you might need to also edit the Madrona.ini file. Or, I might have put enough settings in the Madrona.ini file for you to fully customize it to work with another language OS.
At several spots, Madrona will look for windows, static text, and button text by name or content. For example, to control Fair Use, Madrona looks for the "Next" button to push. If your German OS puts different text on those buttons (Next and Finish in english), Madrona probably won't work, and I don't think I put that in the Madrona.ini file for customization because I didn't forsee someone using it with a foreign language OS.
I COULD move some of those settings into the Madrona.ini file, though. If you're interested in that, I might ask you to take screenshots of a couple FairUse and Nandub screens on your system. Are you familiar with how to do that?

Ok Hi Madrona,
thanks for your help, I think this is a very good problems, when two (maybe simple problems?) can be solved:
When Fairuse has finished encoding and recalculated (works automatically very fine) it doesnt write the output avi, you than have to click on "weiter" what means "Next" in English, the shortcut is "W".
The audio process works fine, nandub opens all files without problems but it cannot be saved automatically, that means it opens the window "save as" but doesnt write anything for the output name ! You have to insert it manually and press save, then it saves the output file with sound. But it doesnt close the programs after that. I have added 2 screenies one of the fairuse probs, one of the nandub probs, I hope it works. Also you find my original madrona.ini below. Please let me know, if you need other screenies ! i like your work.

Ohoh,
I am too stupid to attach the files, I will send you with an email,
@ Lnt3 thanks for your fubatch ini, but it does not work with it

I dont want to critizize your work, but i downloaded the nobrainz guide of johnblox @ http://www.johnblox.eurobell.co.uk/ and it works very simple and good for me in a testrun with trailer. Has anybody experiences with it. Why does nobody write about it. Are there problems i did not see ? please answer
But madrona: I am very interested in an ini file for a german os, I think your program is very good.

I've used no brainz a few times. Yes, it works great, but only for single movies. So, if you are happy not using batch processing then nobrainz will be fine for you.

Got the screenshots BaronVlad. I'll have a look at this. I think I just need to move a couple more settings into the INI file for this to work. I believe (without looking at the code) that I find the Next button by looking for "&Next >" which is why that obviously won't work on your system. I think I also look for the correct edit box on the "Save As" screen in Nandub by first finding the label text "Filename" or whatever, so that's broken on your system as well.
Could you just confirm that you're using the version of Nandub that I packaged with Madrona?
I'll send an update once I've looked at the code, but I think this will be easy to fix. And once we fix it, it will help anybody with other foreign language OS's hopefully.

Hi Madrona,
yes, I use the nanbub version, that was installed with your package, the same I do with all the other programs, all installed and used from your package. It would be great if you could solve the problems for madrona on german os. I think it is a very powerful program ! i know many persons, that will use it, if it works.
Thanks a lot

BaronVlad,
Attached is a new madrona.exe file. Please save it to your Madrona program folder, which is probably "c:\Program Files\Madrona".
Next start the program once and exit it at the "conditions of use" screen. This is necessary to write the new section to the madrona.ini file.
Now go edit the madrona.ini file. You should see the following new section:
[International Settings]
NandubSaveAsFileNameText = File &name:
DialogOKButtonText = OK
DialogYesButtonText = &Yes
WizardCancelButtonText = Cancel
WizardFinishButtonText = &Finish
WizardNextButtonText = &Next >
You'll need to customize these settings for your OS. Based on your screenshots, I'd suggest trying these settings:
[International Settings]
NandubSaveAsFileNameText = Datei&name:
DialogOKButtonText = OK
DialogYesButtonText = &Yes
WizardCancelButtonText = Abbrechen
WizardFinishButtonText = &Finish
WizardNextButtonText = &Weiter >
You also need to change the WizardFinishButtonText setting, but I don't know what text your system uses for "Finish". This is the button you click when FairUse is all done, the one the "Next" button changes into. If you're not sure what button this is, let me know and I'll send you a screenshot of my system.
Don't worry about the two Dialog settings for now. We'll worry about them later.
Please note that quotes are not necessary around the text settings. Also, you need to specify a "&" before an underlined character. For example, on your system the "W" is underlined in "Weiter >" so I added the "&" before the "W". If you don't understand this, let me know.
Please give this a try and let me know if we're making progress. Thanks!

Madrona,
it is a perfect work, I only saved the new .exe to the madrona folder,
opened and closed it, the put this into the ini as you told me:
[International Settings]
NandubSaveAsFileNameText = Datei&name:
DialogOKButtonText = OK
DialogYesButtonText = &Yes
WizardCancelButtonText = Abbrechen
WizardFinishButtonText = &Finish
WizardNextButtonText = &Weiter >
I have changed nothing else and it worked perfect.
The other buttons and settings seem to be the same in English and German version OS, for example "Finish"
Thanks and keep up the good work
Best regards Tim

Glad to hear this worked. Did Madrona close FairUse completely when it was done processing? If Madrona works correctly, it should close FairUse completely when the processing is done.
The reason I ask is because if Madrona doesn't close FairUse completely at the end of processing, this will cause a problem when you try to do batch processing (processing several movies).
I would greatly appreciate it if you could test the batch processing feature before I send the updated program to Doom9 for distribution.
Thanks,

..of course madrona closes fairuse completely, because you wrote the program !
I will have a testrun with two or better three movies today or tomorrow. I will inform you and i am sure it works !

Hi Madrona,
I really appreciate your work on the madrona-programm. Since I live in Germany, too, I had the same problem like BaronVlad.
I downloaed the exe and changed the ini-stuff and everything went fine.
Now my question: Since madrona is such an easy to use programm and I know so many friends who want to use an "all-together-tool", I want to ask you if you could publish a german version of the setup.exe?
It would be great to tell my friends just to download that exe and everything will be fine ;-)
Yours,
H

big_h, no plans to do a German version of the Setup.exe program. Just save the details out of this thread and forward them along to your friends that need it.
I continue to use Fair Use to encode everything, as it is SO much easier than anything else out there. I've used Gordian Knot a couple times on DVD's that even FU couldn't handle, but it just SO many more steps, and so much more effort (look here, record this setting, now switch here and adjust, etc...). I really hope FU2K blesses us with an updated version some day, but I'm content to continue using the old version for now.
Cheers!
