DVD reports 22Gb in DVD Decrypter, only 222Mb in Explorer

I googled this, but perhaps didn't google for the right criteria since I didn't find anything.

I have a DVD I want to rip to my Media PC. This was given to us by a funeral home after my wife's father died.

The root of the DVD has 2 folders, OpenDVD and VIDEO_TS.

The VIDEO_TS looks normal, although there are 199 .VOB files in there. Half of which report 222Mb each.

When I try to run DVD Decrypter, to back it up, I get a bunch of Sector xxxx - Pack Header Not Found then
Arrrrgggh! Too Many 'Pack Header Not Found' Warnings

Eventually I get:

Abort Retry Ignore

Clicking Abort gives me 'Failed to read Sector 3856 - Unknown (CRC or ECC Error) (0x10, 0x90)

Now, I know most of that data is not going to help, but I'm guessing that because these files are mis-sized/labeled, it's dying.

The DVD plays fine, I'm sure it's not corrupt. It's just a picture slideshow with music.

I'd like to store it as MPEG, or XVid, but at least back it up.

Any thoughts?

For backup only:
If you have eg. Nero installed, try a simple 'DVD Copy'.

It has some other copy protection scheme. Use Ripit4me, anydvd or dvd fab.

Correction, it looked good, however, when I run the ISO through DVD decrypter again, to create an MPG file, my sound is messed up. Timing is off, and part of it is duplicated, (about 5 minutes into the movie some of the speech is repeated.)

So, to go from DVD to MPG, or better yet, straight to xvid/avi, what is the best course of action?

Try DVD Decrypter in IFO mode, see if it can sort it out as a single video file.
