hi everyone everything is going great except i can never seem to get the files on the original disk to fit on a 25g blue ray
I always seem to be at 25.1 after i shrink with tsmuxer
I am usualy starting with a 34g movie is this to big to expect to shrink down with the play list deletions?
need help what files do i need off the play list to back up a blue ray movie???

thank you

You need all the files in the main MPLS file. tsMuxeR doesn't do any shrinking just remuxing. In order for it to fit on a BD-R 25 you will have to probably re-encode the video with either AVC or (W)VC-1 in order for it to fit. If you're lucky you maybe able to shrink just the audio if you don't need HD audio but if you need it than it's an 8+ hour encode for you. Why not just buy a BD-RE 50 and save yourself time and headaches?

Just use hard drives if possible, blank BD's are still ridiculously priced. You're nearly better off just buying an extra copy of your movie as a back up at this point.

Yeah $40 for an RE disc you will use 1000's of times is well worth it.

I don't think his BluRay player has an HDD in it like mine does :p

Until BD prices drop, my hopeful solution (when I assemble the components arriving next week into a blu-ray computer) will be to run a DVI cable from the video card to the TV.
The operative word is "hopefu" as I do not know if this will work or not :)

I think you may need to run AnyDVD HD in the background to get around HDCP handshakes but maybe you'll get lucky.

...you may need to run AnyDVD HD in the background to get around HDCP handshakes...I am happy you brought that up (motion of hand slapping head). I need to ask;
I just bought Anydvd but my intent is slightly different,
I want to put the movie image on my HD and play it from there. May I ask, as I am new at this; will that work?

Yeah that will work as it will decrypt the disc as it copies it to your HDD but it would just be faster to watch from the disc with AnyDVD HD running in the background but of course that's up to you.

Thanks indeed! I saw that thread as I was learning the forum, but it's bookmarked now. Quite handy.
I like that the new Anydvd now comes with it's own ripper.
