I have a question. I hope it doesn't sound unaware. Mu audio understanding is still in the learning mode. I found some instructions how to get the audio from DVD. I am really musically oriented and there are a few concert DVDs that I have attended that I don't have time to watch as much as I could listen to. The instructions were straight forward. Use software like DVD Decrypt to get the files to the computer...use something like DG Index to separate (demux)the audio files. There is some conversion next that is needed I am not exactly clear on. Then the files go through BeSweet to have the AC3 files create that multichannel WAV. So what exactly is the conversion needed to be done after the demux. I plan to keep the mulitchannel version WAV to crank and then put a version on the iPOD. Thanks for your time.

ps. One thing is cool.....the concert I am working on has an audio commentary for the live performance that is really cool to hear back. I am glad I did this as I had fun listening to this back. It was like a cool bonus track.

I recommend using DVD Fab HD Decrypter instead of DVD Decrypter, because the latter hasn't been updated in years

.dts is not the same as AC3, so there might be a mixup here.

If it's a .dts track (as your title suggests), you can convert to .wav with eac3to, or foobar2000 with the .dts plugin. (there are a few others)

AC3 is lossy, so I wouldn't convert from .dts to .ac3 to .wav (you lose quality). I would go from .dts straight to .wav. From this .wav you could convert to a format compatible with iPOD.

If your source was AC3, and not .dts, then AC3 => .wav can be done as you originally proposed (or with eac3to, foobar2000, and several others)

That is all good info. Sorry I confused DTS was .AC3...that is good to know. I checked the files and they are indeed .AC3. I have grabbed audio from two DVDs just experimenting. The first DVDs best sound lists as DTS thats files I demuxed gave me two .AC3 files and a .dts file while the other DVD lists as 5.1 Dolby Digital and also lists the demuxed files as .AC3. I will have to look into both processes for both types. I will do .dts to wav and the same for .ac3. I will look into that DVD Fab HD Decrypter and check into the eac3to foobar2000. Any recommendations? Thanks again for your help and the helpful words.....
