vob to avi

just would like to know if im doing it a good way.

(riping episodes from a dvd and compressing them to avi that is)

first i use dvd shrink to rip the *.vob's so i have one vob file per episode, then use divx converter to turn the 1+ gig vob file to a 350 meg avi file.

is this a good way?
