can someone tell me how to overclock my sony vaio desktop 1.8 gigherts p4. and can u tell me what the max it can handle.

if available find CPU Setup.
set processor to user define.
Ext Clock (CPU/AGP/PCI) increase to 110*/66/33mhz (100/66/33mhz is standard)
FSB Ratio (CPU:PCI) 3:1 = 33mhz 1:1 =25mhz or FIX*(ratio between CPU & PCI)
Multiplier Factor x18*
Memory frequency AUTO using RIM. or 133 for PC133 Ram.
Speed error hold : Disabled.

Core Voltage: Cpu Default.

Use settings marked *
remainder depending on type of memory.

I wouldnt advise going greater than 10% overclocking, it would get unstable.

watch your CPU Temperature though. P4s tend to run at 44deg ticking over even when overclocked.
but when you run processor intensive games/apps temp can go as high as 65deg or more depending on your cooling setup.

the problem is i can't get into the bios. When the computer starts the sony logo shows up. in my old computer i could press del and the bios would come up. but with sony i don't know how

Dude prebuilt computers suck for overclocking its going to be a pain in the ass and alot of the times they ship with substandard heatsinks on the CPU. If you're serious about doing this consider getting a new heatsink/fan and maybe even a new motherboard unless alot of the stuff on your computer is integrated.

Press F2 when it starts. i have a sony vaio P4 1.3 with 512 RDRAM

There is no CPU settings available in that. as for as i know sony gets mother board from ASUS.
